Testing
Testing, in any form, is fundamental to properly support your glandular or organ systems. Guessing at what herbal, nutritional or homeopathic products you need for your particular physiology is like being blind-folded in a dark room and expecting to hit the center of the dart board!
There are many testing methods available to you. Most are accurate, but only a few give you the information that you need. Below is a brief over-view of different testing methods that we use.
You can get a full review of common testing methods by clicking here.
Saliva Tests - We perform several different saliva tests depending on the symptoms you present with. The information gathered in these test are invaluable to the accurate recommendation of supportive products.
These tests provide information on the amount of 'free' (usable) hormone that is available to your glands. It gives us insight as to estrogen-progesterone ratios, pituitary function, adrenal involvement, etc. We can pinpoint exact days that you should take specific supplements to support to support LH surge and therefore stimulate proper progesterone levels, for example.
To put it in a nutshell, saliva tests give very accurate information on the ratios and patterns of 'free' (physiologically active) hormones. However, they do not give us information into what is happening to your body on a cellular or meridian level.
Tissue Mineral Analysis- Tissue Mineral Analysis (Hair Analysis) are probably one of the most helpful tests we use overall. These tests give us information into what is happening on a cellular level in your body.
Hair Analysis give us insight into:
-
Blood Sugar Handling
-
Pancreas
-
Carbohydrate Intolerance/Insulin Resistance
-
Thyroid Function
-
Adrenal function
-
Overall vitality/Immune System
-
Female/Male hormonal balance
-
Autonomic Nervous system dominance
-
Protein metabolism
The mineral ratios derived from a Hair Analysis shows us how well the hormonal messages from these glandular systems were received and responded to over a 2-3 month period.
These tests will show up mineral patterns of dysfunction long before hormonal levels deviate in saliva or blood tests. For this reason, we often use them as an early-stage detection test.
For energetic or meridian testing, we use two testing methods described below. We also use these two methods to ascertain specific remedies to your symptomatic profile and dosage amounts.
MSAS Meridian Stress Assessment- This form of testing was created by a German medical doctor named Reinhold Voll in 1952. Dr. Voll discovered that specific points on the body had special electrical impendence, and that these points correlated to body organs and systems. These points were found to have an electrical conductivity up to 20 times more than surrounding tissue. EKG, EEG, and Trans-Scan Devices use this same electrical impendence technology.
Dr. Voll found that if these points had less than average electrical impedance, the corresponding organ system may be inflamed. If the points had more than average impedance, the organ system may be weakened. In fact, a study finished in 2003 by Baylor University showed that MSAS Electro-Dermal testing is up to 99% accurate.
Kinesiology- Kinesiology is a form of biofeedback. It was pioneered by a chiropractor in the 1950's named Dr. George Goodheart. This type of testing provides a great deal of information about the energized status of the body and its various organs, glands and systems without having to penetrate the skin or use invasive techniques. The degree of accuracy is remarkable and best seen in the results achieved, and the speed of that achievement, by experienced practitioners skilled in this approach.
Using Kinesiology employs upper motor pathways in the nervous system, which are theorized to be weakened when the body is challenged, thus resulting in widespread muscular weakness, identified by any single muscle or group of muscles. Type A muscle fiber contraction requires a significant amount of energy to contract, and this is why any distraction to the system can weaken the muscles.
Weaknesses are interpreted as areas of need, areas wherein the body may require cleansing, strengthening, or repair. Clinically, after one to three months of nutritional support, specific for the target system or organ which is identified as weak and usually there is an improvement in the individual’s state of health and symptoms associated with that particular function in the body. There are many ways to strengthen a particular weakness, such as nutritional supplementation to enhance function in the specific area of need, lifestyle modification to unburden the physiology, mind/body therapies to release somatized memory, and others.
